Shirakawa-cho

It is a primary school project located in Shirakawa, Japan. The concept is to develop something out of japanese sense of space. The architectural configuration follows a series of flow of spaces with light boundaries. Threshold between indoor and outdoor is aimed to be broken by sliding doors in classrooms. Strong accessibility of spaces is another point in the complex with a number of openings to outside. Wood as a material for construction and and skin is prefered in order to keep relation to the context. Classrooms and library is lifted up from the ground which are attached to entrance space with a solid reinforced concreet mass standing on the ground.
